Fun fact: apparently treadmills were originally invented as torture devices.
(Personally, I’d say this is more of a stair-climber machine than a treadmill but hey, that’s just me.)
I feel like it’s insulting/offensive to compare my experience on the treadmill to what prisoners were forced to do on a daily basis – so I’ll just say that maybe running on a treadmill isn’t so bad after all.
I’d rather not run on the treadmill, but I don’t have much choice. I have a 45-minute commute and it’s winter and Utah’s air quality sometimes gives the sky an apocalyptic feel, so exercising outside is less than desirable.
So to the treadmill it is! I do other exercises – the most I’ve ever ran on a treadmill has been 7 miles and that was an accomplishment in and of itself.
Right now I’m into more HIIT stuff and resistance and strength training. It balances out my cardio and helps my bad knees stay in shape. But treadmills are still pretty reliable and I’d be a fool to not be grateful for them.
